We are committed to local sourcing and all our smoked salmon is from Dartmouth Smokehouse, our local smokehouse, which overlooks the historic naval port of Dartmouth and has a long established history of curing and smoking. Quality and taste really matter to them and they use only the finest ingredients, from well known sources, combined with time honoured methods to produce simply delicious food.
Smoking has taken place on the site for over thirty years, when it was primarily used for processing mackerel stocks landed in the harbour. Smoked mackerel is still a core product today but the gourmet range now includes delicious smoked and kiln roasted salmon, traditionally split kippers, hot smoked trout, chicken, duck and even tomatoes!
It is a family owned business run by brothers Nick and Ed Obolensky (shown), who grew up in the area and returned to Dartmouth to take over the reigns from their father and his partner. They are fully committed to quality and are now using only RSPCA Freedom salmon for smoking – the fish |
