Discover a wildly romantic, Privately Owned, Grade-1, 15-bedroom Elizabethan Manor rich in heritage and set in glorious gardens amidst 3,500 acres of one of Devon’s finest estates, where pheasants and Arabian horses roam freely. Take a walk down the mile of winding drive to picturesque Gittisham, once described by HRH Prince Charles as “the ideal English Village”.
Over 10 years, Ken & Ruth have endeavoured to create a special experience for their guests. Many of the bedrooms have been refurbished recently and combine contemporary furnishings with fine antiques and fresh flowers. Accommodation of Special Note
The Linen Suite
Furnished in a cool, contemporary style with shades of natural linen and stone, the Linen Suite has a huge sitting room faithfully restored from the original Victorian laundry. Period features have been retained including the former drying rack, which takes up the width and breadth of the room and is suspended from the ceiling. The stylish bedroom has custom-made painted furniture while the stunning bathroom features an amazing 6ft diameter, round copper wash tub specially commissioned from India - click here to learn more
And Combe Thatch Cottage
Combe House is approached by a mile long drive from the village, and tucked away in the woods at the entrance is the restored Combe Thatch Cottage - a romantic hideaway for two with its own private walled garden and welcoming log burning stove in the sitting room.
The original cottage features have been enhanced and embellished with comfortable contemporary furnishings in shades, complimented by fine antiques and fresh flowers. Perfect for that very special and secluded treat! - click here to learn more
